Sager Brown Depot Mission Team (Every year in May)
What is the Sager Brown Depot?
Sager Brown Depot is smack dab in the middle of Cajun Country in Baldwin, LA. It is one of two locations UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) has to collect, inspect, assemble and ship relief supplies around the world whenever a need arises.
In the past our work team has inspected and verified Health Kits and Cleaning Buckets, worked on Layette Kits in the sewing room, cut grass at the Depot and did some repair to housing of people in need.
Lunch, breakfast and dinner are provided on the work days. Each work team is assigned a couple of meals to clean-up after. Accommodations include dormitory style rooms of two, four or eight. The grounds of the Depot are beautiful with trees and swings along Bayou Teche for you to enjoy the scenery.
One afternoon during the week our team will take an afternoon off to visit local attractions and eat out for dinner.
Your time at the Depot is very rewarding. You work with people from other teams and other parts of the country and you know what you are doing will affect and make a difference in the lives of someone across the country and possibly around the world.
Any age may go, but children must have parental supervision
Cost - around $200 per person
Room, board and food services are covered, but there will be a couple of meals on our own.
